Waiting for her, Michael behaved like a caring fiancé and offered to escort her to the bedroom. Smiling cheerfully, Emily just brushed off his question, but casually still mentioned the possibility of including him in a share in her parents’ business, if, of course, he turns out to be a “good boy”.
These words made Michael think about how deeply he was ready to go into this situation for the sake of solving the crime. However, the desire to help justice prevail made him continue this inventive game, despite all the ethical dilemmas. The conversation suddenly took an unexpected turn when Emily, with a sly grimace on her face, mentioned the “very interesting part of the business”.
Michael, all intrigued, hurried to find out what she was talking about. Emily, with a mysterious look, touched her finger to her lips and uttered the enigmatic phrase “He who knows a lot rests in the forest”. These words only intensified Michael’s curiosity, and he began to subtly ask what forest she was talking about.
Which, however, only caused the intoxicated Emily to wave her hand in response. The dialogue moved on to the topic of business and the wealth of her parents, where Michael, with a heavy sigh, admitted that he still had a lot of work to do to reach such a level. He expressed his fears that Emily might leave him because of his financial situation, and offered to talk to her parents to convince them of his abilities.
However, Emily, smiling mysteriously again, replied that tomorrow her parents have a loading planned, and the meeting will not take place. At that moment, she realized that she had accidentally given out more information than she should have, and hastily changed the subject. But Michael had already grasped this information.
Various guesses began to form in his head, and he hoped that these clues would help him expose the secrets hidden behind the wealth of Emily’s family. At dawn of that fateful day, law enforcement decided to conduct thorough surveillance of Emily’s parents. Their intuition did not fail them.
Following every step, they discovered how the spouses meet with strangers and receive a batch of prohibited substances from them. But this was only the beginning. After a successful arrest operation, law enforcement proceeded to search the work warehouse, where, to everyone’s surprise, they found many packaged small bags.
It turned out that the company for the production of frozen foods, which the parents supposedly oversaw, was just a cover. It is simply impossible to earn huge sums on such products. Emily, the family’s daughter, was fully aware of all the machinations happening around her.
This suited her, because for her, money had no smell. However, as it turned out during the investigation, a couple of months ago, unknown ill-wishers decided to set up the family business by siccing the IRS on them. The IRS began to closely monitor their activities, and although there was no serious attention at that time yet, there was a high risk that something serious could soon be revealed.
This could not be allowed under any circumstances. And then, to avoid possible problems, the family decided to stage a large theft, which they planned to hang on someone else. This gave them the opportunity to write everything off on improperly executed documents and put their finances in order.
In parallel, they were already thinking about creating a shell company through which they could continue their illegal activities without extra eyes. And at the family council, they came up with nothing better than to make the son-in-law a scapegoat. At that time, Emily had already been dating the guy for a couple of months, initially it was planned to include him among the owners of their business, and then arrange everything so that he simply disappeared.
They assumed that after his disappearance, serious discrepancies would suddenly be discovered in the accounting documents. And now the victim for their plan has been chosen, and last time everything went like clockwork, until another unforeseen incident occurred. The son-in-law accidentally witnessed the acceptance of another batch of goods.
The family had to act immediately and simply get rid of him. Which they successfully did, as they say, no man, no problem. But this time, in the story with Michael, the vile family behaved much more cautiously.
To minimize the son-in-law’s contacts with the family, the parents bought an apartment for their daughter. The plan was this: right after the wedding, offer the son-in-law a job and a share in the business, and then send him along with Emily on vacation, where he would simply disappear without a trace.
